THE LEGENDARY NORMAN WISDOM (4 DVD SET)
Synopsis
For over fifty years as a household name and Britain's best loved comedian, Norman Wisdom possesses an amazing ability to delight and enchant audiences. Cheerful and unpretentious, the humour of Norman Wisdom is timeless and universally acclaimed: his hugely popular slapstick comedies outsold the Bond films. Here are three vintage Wisdom films, each a landmark of British comedy, and a live performance proving that he has lost none of the magic decades later.
Trouble In Store (1953, 82 min)
Norman is the stock room worker of a department store who dreams of becoming a window dresser, but his own clumsiness gets in his way. That is until he meets the girl of his dreams. Norman's hilarious performance earned him a Most Promising Newcomer award at the 1954 BAFTAS.
Up In The World (1956, 87 min)
Norman is a window cleaner at the palatial home of Lady Banderville who is the butt of endless practical jokes played by her son Reggie. But when the brat is kidnapped, Norman has the chance to prove himself a hero.
On the Beat (1962, 101 min)
In his most famous role, Norman plays Pitkin, a buffoon who dreams of becoming a policeman like his father, however he has to settle for washing police cars.
Norman Wisdom Live On Stage (2004, 57 min)
Norman displays the full range of his talents - clowning, joking, falling about and singing some of his best loved songs. Live on Stage captures the quintessence of the genius of the kings of clowns - a mixture of pathos and side splitting comedy.
